Sunday morning ...a new day...a new room

Hello team!
LT here ....it's Sunday morning and my support team brought in my long Mac (coffee of choice).  So sitting here with my book ( thanks Alison - great book!) and coffee and my partial family support team. Keeley off at a birthday party.

Last night I had to switch rooms....hospital politics. I had been put in an overflow room in the gyno ward...but my doctor wanted me in the breast ward. Well, I liked where I was at and refused to move. They ended up bringing in the head honcho of the ward who profusely apologised but said when Dr Collins says it needs to happen then it needs to happen. So we packed up the florist (luckily Tony and Zac were still around to do the manual handling) and begrudgingly moved wards.

Thank you all for persevering with modern day technology.  Since my phone and computer are out of service this has been a godsend for me to connect to you. These notes of support and smiles and waves of positive thoughts and prayers feel amazing and will help us through this next stage.

So for now it's rest and recovery. Wednesday brings the pathology report which tells us what more we are dealing with and what treatment I will need. We already pretty much know I will need chemo so the kids are selecting my new hair styles if I lose all my hair. I will be styling like no ones business according to Keeley!

Keep the notes coming. They are hugely appreciated!

Love,
Laurice

Checking blog regularly and so happy to hear that you are up for coffee and all things "normal". And know you are in a good place if you are battling honchos about rooms! Fixing Thai at home for dinner. So will absolutely clink you as we have our green curry chicken and spicy beef :) with rice. Where ate the Josie's when we need them? More later from Chico. So thankful you included us in your ordeal, that Tony created the blog, but most of all, that our lives touch. Rest well. With love, Deb

  3. We played with blogging this morning, went to a workout session with the Personal Trainer, had a late Mexican lunch, bathed, and went to Mark and Amy's home for dinner tonight. Alex and Amanda were both there as well as two Chinese girls from Beijing who Amy is caring for on behalf of one of her best friends. So, we're rather exhausted right now.

Hope the coffee got you going well. Also, hope the new room is satisfactory even though it is in the correct ward. Remember how they had TuTu in the drug detox ward for awhile when she had to go back into the hospital at Hinsdale for an extra week or so after she'd had the sarcoma surgery and the breast reconstruction by the plastic surgeon at the University of Chicago Hospitals. That's where you brought Keeley to visit Fu Sing when Keeley was only a few weeks old. I think hospitals have to continually play the game of "musical rooms" because of the unpredictably variable case loads.

We also hope and pray that the pathology results show no further metastisis beyond the three lymph nodes that were already removed. Don't know what the next course of treatment will be, but Fu Sing did not have chemo beyond taking Tamoxifen for 5 years. She did have x-ray radiation treatments everyday M-F for six weeks.

    Love Fu Sing and Dad
